Modern has been manufacturing vinyl and aluminum windows in our state-of-the-art factory in Powell River, BC since 1984. Why Powell River? Simple: it's where the owners live. Dan Agius, born and raised in Powell River,  and Gary Dietrich determined that Powell River geographically offers a fairly central location from which to supply its main customer bases which are located in Powell River and the Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island, and the Lower Mainland.

Proud of their coastal roots the company slowly grew out of its original space and the search began in 2008 for a new locations.  The goals of increasing the factory size while remaining in Powell River offered some unique challenges.

The old public school slated for demolition was identified late in the search as a long shot for the new location. With some creative planning and renovation approaches the very school that owner Dan Agius attended from grades 8-12 became Modern's new home. The trades building became the factory floor, the halls that still have some of the original lockers in them became supply storage and staging areas, and the classrooms became offices. It was meant to be. The latest and most sophisticated manufacturing equipment was also introduced and the old school was turned into a new factory.

We offer supply only or supply and install options on small or big orders, and custom makes every window for your specific needs.
